Sony XDCAM is a series of professional camcorders including the XDCAM SD, XDCAM HD, XDCAM EX and XDCAM HD422. They are capable of shooting in either standard definition or high definition. After recording some 1080p or 720p footages by your Sony XDCAM camcorder, you may want to play the XDCAM footage with QuickTime on your Mac. The Sony XDCAM Drive Software for MAC OS X only supports Intel based Macs.XDCAM camcorder and deck users should make sure that they are running the most current versions of deck and camcorder firmware available on this web page to maintain compatibility with discs created by drives running VFAM 3.0.

This plug-in supports SxS Card but not Professional Disc. XDCAM Professional Disc users can use Content Browser software to ingest material into Final Cut Pro X.

To import ProRes/DNxHD file (which is shot with PMW-F55/F5 cameras) to FCPX, the XAVC/XDCAM Plug-in for Apple (PDZK-LT2) must be uninstalled. To uninstall the PDZK-LT2, delete the 'XDCAMFormat.RADPlug' in the '/Library/Application Support/ProApps/MIO/RADPlugins'.
